Big thank to our community for organizing and welcoming Ukrainians fleeing war at the picnic and BBQ. Special thank you to the Consul General of Ukraine in Western Canada Oleksandr Danyleiko and Family and the settlement and newcomers support organizations and Ukrainian organizations for joining the Ukrainians Welcome Potluck/BBQ in Calgary!

Since the full scale war broke on February 24, 2022, UCC Calgary organized the following rallies, including a large event at the City Hall:
February 24 - Peace Bridge;
February 27 - Holodomor Monument;
March 6 - Calgary City Hall, Municipal Plaza;
April 9 - Memorial Drive
with thousands in attendance, strong political support across all government levels, comprehensive media coverage. Our youth leaders contributed greatly into planning and delivery of the events. We thank Her Worship Dr Jyoti Gondek and Members of City Council, MP Kmiec, MP Rempel Garner, and other MPs and MLAs who joined, Bohdan Romaniuk, Stephania Romaniuk, Ihor Bohdan, Slava Sles, Representatives of other Ethnic Communities, including from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and other. Special thank you to ColossoVision for their generosity and support at March 6 event.

Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Calgary Branch with our community leaders came to the Peace Bridge on Saturday, January 22nd to stand in solidarity with people of Ukraine and join UCC nation-wide campaign

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) calls on all Canadians to join the #StandWithUkraine campaign and show your support for the Ukrainian peoples’ right to live free and in peace in their own land.
For eight years, the Ukrainian people have bravely defended their country against brutal Russian aggression, as Russia once again seeks to colonize Ukraine. Close to 14,000 people have been killed, over 1.5 million displaced. Today, Russia is massing troops and weapons near Ukraine’s borders and on occupied Ukrainian territory and threatening to invade further into Ukraine.
It should be noted that hundreds would have joined this rally. Due to COVID-19 pandemic and the fifth wave, we deliberately limited the size of the group to keep everyone safe.
